We are thrilled to share the inspiring impact of Arca do Saber's work, which began over 20 years ago. One shining example of how Arca can build virtuous circles is Aldair, a former student who discovered his passion for dance through one of our dedicated French volunteers. This year, Aldair has opened his own ballet school just a few blocks from the Favéla. He now welcomes a small group of Arca children, teaching them the fundamentals of classical dance.
Visit Arca do Saber's Instagram page to watch a heartwarming video and witness the wonder in the eyes of our six-year-olds as they don their ballet slippers for the first time.
Similarly, we're also very proud that Mickael, the son of the neighbour of Arca do Saber, who has obtained several Google certifications thanks to Arca do Crescer vocationnal center, will be able to develop his skills and teaching abilities by assisting Alexandre, Arca's IT teacher. Mickael now teaches digital literacy to Arca's children on a part-time basis and supervised by Alexandre.
We can also talk about Layane, who, after several years of playing rugby with Arca and travelling to France last summer thanks to Arca Desembole's rugby trip, has been selected to join the Brazilian women's junior rugby team in February 2024 and has even been made captain of her team.
Let's discover Igor, also known as BBoy Igão. Igor joined Arca do Saber at the age of three. At 15, he began breakdancing, which played a crucial role in helping him overcome a context of high vulnerability. Today, Igor teaches breakdance to the children of Arca do Saber.
Joining Igor is Rayssa, an 18-year-old rugby player and student at Arca do Crescer. Together, they will represent our association at Festival 24 in France during the Olympics. Festival 24 is an International Solidarity Festival that brings together 500 young people from around the world to celebrate the values of the Olympics and sports. Igor and Rayssa will spend two weeks in France, confronting with participants from all over the world about how sports can foster social inclusion.
Thank you very much for all you do to support Arca all year long and make it possible for us to create virtuous circles !
