Every now and then, it’s important to pause and reflect on simple yet fundamental questions: What are the core objectives of our association? How can I ensure that my actions truly meet the needs of our beneficiaries? And from the perspective of our volunteers and donors: What motivates me to give my time or financial support?
In recent months, Arca staff have reviewed our programs with one key question in mind: do they meet our objectives? This closer monitoring has helped us fine-tune our strategies, ensuring that our actions not only address the territory's most urgent needs, but also contribute effectively to the change we seek.
Fighting Extreme poverty
4,843 families in our territory live with a per capita monthly income of up to US$ 20
Arca's action: Generation of formal jobs, entrepreneurship and professional certification, 2 free and balanced meals/day for the children
Giving access to quality education for children and youth
Only 1 free sports center, 4 km from the favela, Libraries and cultural center 15 to 30 minutes from the community
Arca's action: in 2024, we offered more than 1900 hours of workshops, including capoeira, circus, ballet, rugby, judo, digital citizenship, percussion and 4 outings. These experiences have had a direct impact on the self-esteem, cultural repertoire and sense of belonging of the 130 children and adolescents we serve - with 81% regularly attending the activities and 100% of them guaranteeing that they enjoy the activities. Arca do Saber is a place where children and young people are protected, encouraged and respected.
Fighting to reduce Inequality, promoting Gender Equality and access to a Decent work Low access to formal employment for the settlers of the favela: 3.19 formal jobs per 10 thousand inhabitants
Arca Action: Qualification and insertion of young people and adults through the employability sector
In 2024, Arca do Crescer promoted a transformative cycle of training, reaffirming its commitment to improving inclusion and life prospects in peripheral territories.
Focusing on employability and entrepreneurship, the project offered courses that integrated technical training and personal development, directly impacting hundreds of participants.During the year, 532 certificates were issued and 232 students took part in professional courses and psychological assistance. The presence of women was significant, accounting for 78% of the public, while people self-declared black people accounted for 64%.
None of this would be possible without the dedication of our partners, volunteers, and a generous community of donors like you—people who believe in the power of collective action to create lasting change. Thank you for your support, it makes all the difference!
