Cancer awareness is limited among young people in Ghana, contributing to late diagnoses and poor outcomes. This project aims to distribute educational materials in schools across the country, teaching students about cancer prevention, early detection, and healthy lifestyle choices to help create a well-informed generation.
In Ghana, knowledge of cancer prevention, early signs, and healthy habits remains low, especially among young people. Many cancers go undiagnosed or are detected too late for effective treatment due to a lack of awareness. Schools rarely offer structured health education about cancer, leaving children and teens without basic knowledge about risk factors or preventive measures.
This project will develop and distribute age-appropriate educational materials to schools across Ghana, focusing on cancer awareness, prevention, and early detection. The materials will include booklets, posters, and digital resources, designed with local context and health education best practices in mind.
By educating students about cancer prevention and early detection, this project will contribute to a shift in public health in Ghana. A generation that grows up with knowledge about cancer risks and symptoms will be more likely to pursue preventive care, make healthier choices, and seek early medical intervention. In the long term, this project aims to reduce cancer incidence rates, improve survival rates, and foster a culture of proactive health management in Ghanaian communities.
