Eid Adha Together

As Eid Al-Adha approaches, the project “Eid Adha Together” (#56258) is preparing to expand its humanitarian food assistance to reach a larger number of vulnerable families across Bethlehem Governorate.

In the current severe economic and humanitarian conditions, many families are unable to afford basic food items, including meat during Eid. This has significantly affected their ability to celebrate this important occasion with dignity.

The project aims to restore a sense of dignity and inclusion by providing fresh meat parcels (Qurbani meat) to the most vulnerable households across refugee camps, cities, and rural areas in Bethlehem.

 Geographic Coverage Expansion

This year, the project will expand its coverage beyond refugee camps to include:

• Bethlehem city
• Surrounding villages
• Aida, Azza, and Dheisheh refugee camps
• Other vulnerable households identified across Bethlehem Governorate

The aim is to ensure that support reaches the widest possible number of families in need, regardless of location.

Planned Intervention

To maximize impact and ensure wider distribution, the project plans to conduct collective cow sacrifice (Qurbani cattle).

 Why Cow Sacrifice?

• Provides a larger quantity of meat compared to sheep
• Enables distribution to more families
• More cost-effective for large-scale humanitarian response

Cost and Distribution Plan

• Estimated cost of one cow: approximately 10,000 ILS
• Meat distribution is based on processed weight after slaughter
• Each family will receive approximately:
  • 2–3 kg of fresh meat, depending on household size

This ensures fair, dignified, and equitable distribution among beneficiaries.

 Beneficiary Selection

Priority will be given to:

• Low-income families
• Families of persons with disabilities
• Widows and female-headed households
• Elderly households without stable income

Beneficiaries will be identified through field teams and community-based assessments to ensure accurate targeting.

  Humanitarian Context

The current situation in Bethlehem Governorate has led to:

• Increased poverty and unemployment
• Rising food insecurity
• Heavy reliance on humanitarian assistance
• Reduced ability of families to afford basic food and seasonal needs

For many families, receiving meat during Eid has become impossible without external support.

Following the recent war and the ongoing economic crisis, the needs of Palestinian families have increased dramatically. Rising unemployment, food insecurity, and loss of income have placed an immense burden on households across Bethlehem. For families of persons with disabilities, this burden is multiplied. Many caregivers are unable to work, medical and rehabilitation costs are high, and basic necessities have become increasingly unaffordable.

In the coming year and during the upcoming Eid Al-Adha, Noor Society aims to provide Qurbani (sacrificial meat) and fresh meat distributions to a large number of families who are unable to support themselves. This initiative seeks to restore dignity, ensure food security, and allow families to experience the joy of Eid like everyone else.

The planned distributions will target families living in:

• Aida Refugee Camp

• Al-Azza (Beit Jibrin) Refugee Camp

• Bethlehem city

• Beit Jala

• Doha

• Al-Khader

Priority will be given to families of persons with disabilities, including households caring for:

• Children and adults with physical disabilities

• Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder

• Persons with intellectual disabilities

• Children with multiple disabilities

• Individuals with speech and communication disorders

The age range of persons with disabilities supported through this initiative spans from early childhood to adulthood, with particular focus on children and youth aged 3 to 18 years, as well as dependent adults living with severe disabilities.

This Eid initiative is more than food distribution. It is about solidarity, dignity, and inclusion. For many families, receiving meat during Eid means being able to celebrate, to gather around a shared meal, and to feel that they are not forgotten.
