Across rural Nigeria, 70% of families depend on small farms but lack tools, funds, and farm inputs. Many youth remain jobless even with access to land. This project will train and equip 3,000 youth with small grants, seeds, tools, fertilizers, and land to grow maize, yam, beans, cassava, vegetables, and other cash crops. Harvests will supply food for over 15,000 households and offer income. Project activities will begin immediately after we start receiving donations.
Many villages in Nigeria face hunger due to low farm output, rising prices, and poor access to farm inputs. Land is available, but most youth cannot afford seeds, tools, or fertilizers. With no training or start-up funds, farming stays out of reach. As food prices climb, families skip meals or rely on poor substitutes. Local markets run short of fresh crops, and hunger grows worse in rural and underserved communities and villages in Nigeria.
The project will support 3,000 youth with small farming grants, practical training, land access, and farming inputs. Crops include maize, cassava, yam, beans, vegetables, and more. Each youth will farm one plot and harvest enough to feed their family and sell at local markets. This helps fill local food gaps and reduces food costs for rural families. Sales also provide cash to grow the farms in the next cycle.
Trained youth can continue farming beyond the first cycle with their tools and knowledge. As each season passes, food supply in these areas will grow, helping more families access affordable crops. Small farmer groups may form to buy inputs in bulk and sell together. As income grows, youth can lease or buy more land, and expand their farms. The project creates steady work for young people and helps reduce youth unemployment in Nigeria.
