Summary

This program seeks to empower women both personally and professionally. Through various workshops, seminars and classes we seek to reinforce and focus on their strengths and talents in the various areas of life. Through nominations, we will choose 10 women entrepreneurs on their way to open their own business. They must present a business plan and a media plan with which they will seek the votes of the community to win the competition that will grant them $ 10,000 to start their own business.

Challenge

According to the ACLU, Puerto Rico has one of the highest rates of violence against women in the world. A woman is murdered every 14 days there. The statistics are frightening but continue to rise every day after Hurricane Maria. The aftermath of natural disasters, according to the World Health Organization, foster violence and sexual assaults against women. Women in Puerto Rico are struggling every day demanding an end to the permanent state they live under as mothers, workers and students.

Solution

Education is the key to empowering women. Providing her with the tools for total personal, social and economic development contributes, without a doubt, to reinforcing her esteem, her self-confidence and her total optimum development as an individual. This program will provide the education, guidance and support necessary for our women to take the reins to have a better life. It will educate, support on the process to open a business, go back to school or end for good destructive patterns.

Long-Term Impact

It will accelerate efforts to eradicate poverty, achieve food security, fight against diseases, improve the quality of education, increase opportunities for decent jobs and improve environmental sustainability, which are all essential areas to face the challenges facing the world today. We believe that by empowering one woman you are actually increasing the changes to be empowering a whole community and a country. Women is the base of family and society and have earned equal opportunities.
