India is the second most inhabited country on the planet and, precisely because of this incredible density, the virus is reaching very high numbers. The country does not have a health system able to respond to the numerous requests for cars and another terrible threat is the hunger. This project aims to safeguard the health of 2000 children and their families in the shanty towns of Mumbai and Nagercoil, countering the spread of the virus and ensuring at least one full meal for day.
The arrival of the covid is doing nothing but worsen this dramatic situation: few will be able to avoid being infected and once again will be the most vulnerable to suffer the worst consequences. But the worst damage is caused by the lockdown: closed schools in India means children without food and even more vulnerable because exposed to the dangers of the road, closed activities means thousands of people without work and without the ability to earn even those few rupees a day to survive.
In collaboration with local partner, project wants to: improve the hygienic and sanitary conditions of 2000 children and their families, ensuring protection and correct safety and prevention measures; ensure the right to food for 2000 children, reducing the number of cases of malnutrition and malnutrition; improve the socio-economic conditions of about 500 families living in extreme difficulty and who, having lost their jobs due to lockdown, cannot pay for the house (light and rent).
