Project report

The Democratic Republic Congo Crisis Relief Fund (often associated with Community of national artistic unity

or the UN-pooled DRC Humanitarian Fund) is a strategic initiative providing life-saving assistance to millions affected by one of the world's most severe and neglected humanitarian crises.

For 2026, the humanitarian community and the DRC government have launched an urgent appeal for $1.4 billion to support 7.3 million highly vulnerable people.

Key Project Objectives (2026)

The fund prioritizes areas facing the most acute shocks, primarily in the eastern provinces (North Kivu, South Kivu, and Ituri).

ReliefWeb +1

  • Emergency Life-Saving Aid: Rapid delivery of food assistance, emergency healthcare, and treatment for severe acute malnutrition.
  • Protection Services: Providing specialized care for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), child protection, and psychosocial support.
  • Essential Services: Restoring access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), and providing emergency shelter for displaced families.
  • Durable Solutions: Transitioning from short-term survival aid to sustainable resilience by addressing root causes of displacement and conflict.

Operational Focus

  • Strict Prioritization: Due to a severe funding gap (only 24% of 2025 needs were met), the 2026 plan is more conservative, focusing on only the most life-threatening needs in 228 health zones, down from 332 in 2025.
  • Climate & Epidemic Response: The fund addresses overlapping crises, including floods, landslides, and recurrent outbreaks of Mpox, cholera, and measles.
  • Local Partnerships: The fund works with dozens of trusted local NGOs and frontline responders who have unique access to hard-to-reach conflict zones.

Donations to these funds directly support UN Crisis Relief or various GlobalGiving projects providing critical supplies like food, medicine, and clean water.

These reports detail the 2026 humanitarian needs, funding goals, and prioritized response areas for the Democratic Republic of Congo crisis:

Donations go directly to the DRC Humanitarian Fun

One of the fastest and most efficient ways to support people in need. The DRC Humanitarian Fund partners with dozens of trusted local NGOs and frontline responders who best understand community needs and can access areas others can't.

24.8 million people - one in five Congolese - are acutely food insecure in a country that has been dealing with the fallout of conflicts, epidemics such as Mpox, and natural disasters that have driven people out of their homes.

Despite the challenging conditions, humanitarian actors continue to enable life-saving operations by negotiating access and providing urgent medical care, food assistance and other essential aid.

Your donation will help the United Nations and humanitarian partners to rapidly provide life-saving assistance to the people who need it most.
