Donate emergency packages now and help the earthquake survivors in Nepal! After the devastating earthquake more than 7.000 people have been reported killed, 14.000 injured. 500.000 houses have been destroyed. The emergency aid programme of the Caritas network is running at full capacity: 10.000 hygiene kits, 2.000 tarpaulins, 16.700 water purification tablets, 3.200 buckets and 40.000 pieces of soap are being distributed. Still thousands and thousands of people need our help!
The Caritas network is rushing to respond to the earthquake in Nepal. Extensive damage has been reported, with loss of life and injury. Many people have been sleeping outside since the earthquake. Partly because they fear further aftershocks; partly because their homes have been destroyed. More than 3 million people are in need of food aid, thereof more than 1,4 million are in need of urgent support. We are racing time to help the people and provide safe shelter before the wet season starts.
Caritas Austria is planning to provide 4.500 people with emergency aid packages. These will help to overcome the food shortage as well as the shelter problem - especially with the wet season coming soon. Our goal is to support the earthquake survivors in the early recovery phase until the wet season is over and the rehabilitation phase can be coordinated.
When such a devastating disaster hits a country as poor as Nepal we will of course not only offer support for the early recovery phase but will also help the people who lost everything rebuild their houses, schools, etc. in the coming months, allowing them to hopefully find back to everyday life soon.
