On Feb 6, two strong earthquakes struck Turkiye and Syria. As of today, more than 19,300 dead, 70,000 wounded, 23 million people affected, tens of thousands of people left homeless. With 20 years of expertise in Syria, Jafra has the potential to assist the country's inhabitants in times of catastrophes and is on the scene to attend to the most immediate needs especially in Aleppo, Al-Ramel, Handarat and Al-Neirab Palestinian camps. Thousands of people will find shelter thanks to your support.
3 Palestinian camps in North Syria (Al-Neirab and Handarat camps in Aleppo, and Al-Ramel camp in Lattakia,) are affected by the catastrophe that left 72 Palestinian refugees killed to this day. More than 25,000 persons including 5000 IDPs lived in those camps. Today, hundreds are injured and roughly 5000 individuals there are now homeless. Very restricted relief material is distributed to the camps' inhabitants as UNRWA delivered some food and first medical aid only, nothing in one of the areas.
Teams at Jafra are sorting donations of food, warm clothing, blankets, and other supplies to be distributed to several devastated areas. However, it is widely acknowledged that Syria, which has been torn apart by conflict, has not yet recovered and that the country's fragile economy makes it difficult for the locals to take further action. Jafra is seeking funding to address the most pressing needs with dependable relief supplies including waterproof mats, shades, mattresses, blankets.
Your gererous contributions will be used to purchase technical shelter supplies and to convey them to the affected areas. For many families and orphans who are completely unable to rely on themselves anymore in the wake of the calamity, it truly is a question of life or death. Longer term, Jafra will use the funding toward the rebuilding of the affected communities' livelihoods.
