Emergency Ebola Relief in North-Eastern DR Congo

We are deeply grateful to GlobalGiving, its partners, and generous donors for the continued support that has enabled YATOSHA Services Foundation to maintain and strengthen our Ebola prevention and response activities in vulnerable communities in Ituri, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Thanks to the funds received through direct donations and the continued support mobilized by GlobalGiving together with its partners, our local teams have been able to carry out important prevention, WASH, awareness-raising, and assistance activities. The response remains ongoing, and our teams continue to engage communities and respond to emerging needs.

Results achieved to date

• 33 hand-washing kits distributed and installed in essential facilities.
• 1 local orphanage supported with essential food and hygiene supplies.
• 7 mass awareness sessions conducted.
• 21 focus group and door-to-door awareness sessions conducted.
• 3 awareness videos produced and disseminated in French, Lingala, and English.
• 18 local leaders trained and mobilized to support Ebola prevention activities.
• 739+ people directly engaged through community activities.
• 2,450+ people reached through social media and media awareness campaigns.

The interventions have reached and strengthened prevention and hygiene measures in 14 health facilities, including 5 facilities located in IDP sites, 12 schools, 2 central prisons, 4 government facilities, and 1 orphanage.

Beyond these numbers, the support has helped communities improve access to basic hygiene information and materials, strengthen prevention practices, and reinforce protection and health-security measures for children, displaced families, and other vulnerable community members.

The response activities are continuing to this day. The results presented above therefore reflect the progress achieved so far, while our teams remain actively engaged in community prevention, awareness, monitoring, and assistance activities. We will continue documenting our work and will share additional results and updates very soon as the response progresses.
