Cyclone Idai made landfall in Mozambique on March 15th, bringing strong winds, torrential rains, widespread flooding, and massive destruction. Several hundred people are confirmed dead while hundreds more remain missing. Scenes from the ground show extreme devastation and whole towns submerged under water. With the power grid down, millions of people are suffering. FRF will provide free fuel to those in need, as well as to hospitals, water treatment plants, first responder vehicles & equipment.
Cyclone Idai has caused catastrophic devastation across Mozambique. Millions of people are in need of humanitarian assistance - their homes have been destroyed, their belongings washed away, and they are stranded in rising flood waters. The need for humanitarian assistance is vast. The power grid remains down and critical infrastructure has been badly damaged and is ceasing to operate. Without fuel, people will not have clean drinking water, edible food, suitable shelter, or medical assistance.
Fuel Relief Fund gives free fuel to 1) critical infrastructure, such as hospitals, clinics, water treatment plants, orphanages, and nursing homes; 2) first responders for vehicles and search and rescue operations.; and 3) directly to those affected who are suffering to find potable water, edible food, warmth, light, working vehicles and other critical resources during disasters.
Nothing happens without fuel. Fuel Relief Fund's role is to bridge the gap in the immediate aftermath of a disaster while services are down and fuel supply is critically low. We help to power the emergency response and work to ensure that those who are suffering have the fuel they need to meet basic necessities such as obtaining clean water, food, and sufficient shelter.
