Category 4 Hurricane Michael crashed into the Florida coast on October 10th with surging winds of up to 155 mph, making it the most powerful storm to hit the U.S. mainland in nearly 50 years. Unlike other storms of this caliber, Michael intensified from a Category 2 in just 24 hours, giving an estimated 4.2 million people in its path little to no time to prepare or evacuate. While first responders are focused on rescues, temporary shelter & food, FRF is the ONLY organization offering free fuel.
Close to 4.2 million people now face the threat of catastrophic winds, rain, and storm surge from Hurricane Michael. With widespread power outages imminent and gas stations closing, fuel shortages are being reported across the region. This means that first responders will have to travel long distances for fuel, hindering response efforts. People will not have access to fuel for their cars, generators, or home medical equipment - putting their lives and livelihoods at risk.
FRF deploys to the disaster site, sources fuel from the closest location, and delivers it to those in need. This includes first responders, local police and fire departments, hospitals, nursing homes, water treatment plants and, of course, individual people and families who depend on fuel for basic survival in the wake of major disasters. As long as we have the resources, FRF will work to ensure that those in the areas hardest-hit by Michael, have the fuel they need to make it through the storm.
