The situation in Palestine is extremely critical: one year has passed since the start of the war on October 7th 2023 and there is no peace on the horizon. The situation in Bethlehem is tragic and the economic crisis has affected each family. Prices are rising and as consequence more and more families are living below poverty line. The project aims to provide economic support to families and every contribution helps to ensure food, water, shelter and medical support.
In Palestine, families are living in terrible conditions because they can't afford basic needs like a safe shelter and food. In addition to this, there is no freedom of movement: tourism has collapsed, unemployment has grown exponentially and every action is difficult. Humanitarian aid is extremely complex. Despite this the continuous risks, our local partners are still present in Bethlehem and they are still seeking to continue to provide their services to families and children in need.
Aleimar collaborates with two local partners: the first one is the Daughters of Charity that manage the Social Centre, a point of refence for the community of Bethlehem; the second one is the Holy Child School near Bethlehem, which provides education for children with disabilities. Thanks to this project, both partners will offer an emergency support system to the most fragile families and children. In particular, we will ensure food, clean water, medical assistance and a safe shelter.
This project will be developed in an emergency context and the first response will be focused on providing basic necessities in order to guarantee the survival of the recipients. Thanks to this short-term action, we ensure the ongoing services that were already offered by our local partners in previous peaceful times, like access to education and parental support. Their widespread presence is crucial for the current community survival and will be fundamental for the post-conflict reconstruction.
