An update from the West Bank

Dear Friends,

Palestine is experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Despite the ceasefire on January 1, 2025, the difficulties show no signs of diminishing. Checkpoints and forced closures continue to restrict access to essential goods, medical care, and education. Palestinian families live in conditions of extreme vulnerability, with the cost of living continuing to rise. Children, who should be protected from all of this, are the most affected, enduring the trauma of war, food and water shortages, and the denial of their right to education.

Freedom of movement is not limited to Gaza but extends to the West Bank as well, due to numerous checkpoints. The high risk in the West Bank makes it difficult for local and international humanitarian organizations to operate, as they face logistical and operational challenges in a context of ongoing instability.

In the West Bank, the expansion of Israeli settlements continues to create obstacles to peace, generating tension and uncertainty for the local population. Daily life for people in the West Bank is marked by constant fear and a lack of basic rights.
The repercussions of the war are still evident. Palestinian families, increasingly impoverished, face enormous daily difficulties, unable to cope with the costs of schooling and the transportation needed for their children's education. In Bethlehem, many families cannot even afford the school fees, and the additional cost of school transportation becomes unsustainable.

The Palestinian population lives in constant fear for their safety, forced to move continually in search of safe shelters, while the fear of new attacks marks every moment of their day. Despite these enormous challenges, hope is not yet lost, and Aleimar would like to provide a light of hope for the most vulnerable families.

In collaboration with its local partners, such as the Daughters of Charity, who run the Social Center in Bethlehem, and the Holy Child School, which provides education to children with disabilities, Aleimar continues to work tirelessly in Palestine. These local partners, thanks to their dedication, manage to provide emergency support to families, ensuring food, clean water, healthcare, and safe shelters. Despite the difficult context, these interventions offer concrete hope, providing vital assistance at a time of great need. In a world marked by fear, your commitment is the hope that lights the way in the darkness, offering a future of dignity and safety to those who need it most.

Thank you.
