Dear Donors,
In Palestine, the situation has become unsustainable. After months of military escalation, entire communities are living in uncertainty and fear. Gaza is collapsing, but Bethlehem – the city that symbolizes peace – is also wounded, isolated and impoverished. The news we receive every day from our field operators and partners speaks of destroyed homes, displaced families, damaged schools, and inaccessible hospitals. In the West Bank, over 40,000 people have been forced to leave their homes. Attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian villages have caused devastating fires, affecting crops, vehicles and homes. Many villages no longer have water or electricity.
In Bethlehem, where we operate our projects in partnership with local associations, daily life has become an obstacle course. The city is surrounded by checkpoints and walls that have practically isolated it. Tourism, which was the main source of income for many families, has disappeared. Today, many parents find themselves without work, savings, and any prospects. Schools are often empty and getting there is complicated, sometimes impossible. Children live in precarious conditions in a climate of constant uncertainty. There is a lack of access to adequate medical care and many essential medicines, even for chronic diseases, are no longer available.
Yet, every day, despite everything, we continue to operate by delivering food parcels to those who have nothing left, ensuring the payment of fees, materials and school transportation for children so they can continue to study and offering psychological support to those who have experienced deep trauma, especially the youngest.
The words of our operators describe the reality better than anyone else:
“Schools are often empty. Parents lose their jobs. Children live in anxiety and precarious conditions. It is difficult, but we cannot give up.”
“I don’t know what will happen tomorrow. But I know I could die. I am afraid for our children.”
The situation is getting worse every day, but we can make a difference. Your contribution can give hope back to a family.
Even a small donation helps save a life!
