Dear Donors,
Over the past months, the Philippines has faced a succession of natural disasters. Following earthquakes, floods and violent winds, two typhoons - Tino and Uwan - struck the country in October. These repeated events directly affected our centers and the families we support.
Thanks to your generosity, CAMELEON has been able to respond immediately while also strengthening its long-term preparedness to protect both the girls in our care and our staff.
In October 2025 and January 2026, emergency drills were organized in our Passi and Negros facilities in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection. Girls and staff were trained in evacuation procedures, safety protocols and risk-reduction measures in case of fire or earthquake. Beyond training, these drills served as an external assessment of our readiness, resulting in an overall rating of 8 out of 10.
This was reinforced in December 2025 by a First Aid training session for both staff and girls, enabling them to respond effectively to accidents and emergency situations linked to natural hazards. These sessions aim to build reflexes, confidence and autonomy in critical moments.
At the same time, urgent repair works were carried out following the damage caused by these disasters. While these emergency repairs secured the buildings, more substantial infrastructure works are now required to ensure the long-term resilience and safety of our facilities. A rigorous and transparent selection process is underway to engage qualified contractors and guarantee durable, high-quality construction standards adapted to the local risk context.
CAMELEON is therefore working on two fronts: strengthening the preparedness of children and teams and reinforcing the physical resilience of the places that protect them.
Your continued support allows us not only to repair what has been damaged, but to build safer environments capable of withstanding future emergencies.
With gratitude,
CAMELEON Association
