In just a few days, the Philippines was hit by two consecutive typhoons, Tino and Uwan, classified as megatyphoons. These storms come after an earthquake, floods, and violent winds in recent weeks. This series of catastrophes has severely weakened our centers and plunged families into critical situations. Home to 180 girls and a lifeline for over 300 students and families, urgent support is needed to repair facilities, rebuild safe shelters, and ensure the protection of all beneficiaries.
Our CAMELEON centers have been severely affected. The infrastructure has suffered heavy damage: fallen trees, damaged roofs, broken perimeter walls, blocked pipes, several buildings have cracks, and the Silay center has been without internet access since the first typhoon. Beyond urgent repairs, we must reinforce structures and improve preparedness. Limited disaster response training and lack of emergency equipment put children and staff at risk, making safety a top priority.
With your help, CAMELEON can ensure the safety and well-being of 180 girls in residence and 300 students in our education programs. Your support will fund urgent repairs to damaged roofs, walls, water, and electrical systems, and restore community spaces. These actions will reinforce weakened structures, secure all three centers, and allow children to return safely to an environment that supports healing, recovery, and empowerment.
Given the extent of the damage and the increasing frequency of natural and climate-related disasters, we need to respond to the emergency and strengthen the long-term resilience of our centers. With your support, we will be able to repair infrastructure and secure centers so that they can withstand future disasters, equip each site with emergency kits and prevention systems, implement disaster prevention and risk reduction measures, and train children, families and staff in emergency management.
