Severe flooding in Kogi State, particularly in Lokoja and surrounding riverine communities, has displaced thousands of families, destroyed homes, farmlands, and livelihoods. Many families are now living in unsafe conditions without food, clean water, or basic shelter. This emergency relief project will provide life-saving assistance-food, clean water, hygiene kits, temporary shelter, and medical support-to flood-affected households as they struggle to survive and rebuild.
Kogi State sits at the confluence of the River Niger and River Benue, making communities in Lokoja and neighboring areas highly vulnerable to annual flooding. Recent floods have submerged homes, washed away crops, displaced families, and cut off access to schools and healthcare. Children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities face increased risks of hunger, disease outbreaks, and trauma. Without urgent intervention, many families may not recover from these losses.
This project will deliver immediate emergency relief to flood-affected communities in Lokoja and nearby riverine settlements through, emergency food supplies and clean drinking water, temporary shelter materials and bedding, hygiene kits to prevent water-borne diseases, basic medical and first-aid support, and psychosocial support for affected families Relief distribution will be coordinated with local volunteers, community leaders, and affected households to ensure transparency.
For families who lost everything overnight, timely support can mean the difference between survival and despair. Your donation will help restore dignity, prevent disease, and give flood victims in Kogi State a chance to recover and rebuild their lives.
