The war in Palestine and Israel since October 7 has caused a severe humanitarian crisis. Many Palestinians have been killed and thousands injured. Urgent aid is needed. Many face displacement and lack basic necessities like water, electricity, fuel, food and medicine. Anera in Gaza is providing vital supplies, procuring food parcels and hygiene kits for UNRWA schools. Outside Gaza, Anera is preparing emergency supplies and medicines for distribution once a humanitarian corridor opens
Palestinians in Gaza heavily rely on humanitarian aid due to the 16+ year blockade, causing severe shortages of food, fuel and clean water. Right now hospitals, including Gaza's largest, Al Shifa Hospital, struggle with power cuts and an overwhelming number of patients. This current war in Gaza compounds an existing reliance on aid, affecting 80% of the population before recent attacks. The humanitarian needs right now in Gaza are immense.
Currently, no humanitarian aid is allowed inside Gaza. Anera is making use of local food vendors and resources to distribute aid. We are distributing food parcels, hygiene kits, water, blankets and mattresses. Simultaneously, Anera is preparing medical donations and extra supplies on standby. Anera is in constant communication with local partners, including the United Nations, to ensure immediate relief can be provided when it is safe to do so.
By providing immediate relief, we give innocent civilians a chance at survival. Medical aid including long-term rehabilitation programs and medical devices are needed for recovery. This project will allow families to take precautions against the spread of disease and famine, which is expected to increase. Blankets and clothing will ensure safety from the cold especially as Palestine heads into the fall and winter. Food parcels will also be essential to prevent starvation as conditions worsen.
