This project will provide relief to victims by helping emergency supplies like food, water, clothes, bed sheets and medicine Etc in addition to longer term recovery assistance. This relief work will give confidence to victims to overcome the obstacles, they faced during floods.
The Chennai floods are a historic once-in-a-lifetime event that is ravaging the city with over 175 cm (5.74 feet) of rainfall causing massive flooding and displacement of millions of people. The Chennai metro area is home to over 8 million people with conservative estimates, from various sources, of about 25-30% or so being displaced by the flooding and losing access to food and shelter.
This project will provide relief to victims by helping emergency supplies like food, water, clothes, bed sheets and medicine Etc in addition to longer term recovery assistance.
This project will provide emergency relief work in the initial stage to bring the victims to normalcy. In the second stage, we will concentrate on food security by providing seeds to farmers, Income generating programs, Permanent housing, Removal of occupation in water bodies etc.
