Dear Our Valued Supporters,
Happy New Year 2025!
We are happy to share the successes of the last months of 2024 and the new year 2025 and provide you with updates on our progress at Seed of Hope. Your unwavering support has been instrumental in enabling us to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people. Here are some highlights from our journey:
In the past year, we enrolled 1,067 students, and we are delighted to announce that they have successfully completed their courses and are set to graduate this month. These students benefited from free training, free lunches, counseling, life skills training, and free learning materials. Out of the total number of students, 637 (60%) were girls, many of whom received menstrual hygiene packs. Among this girls population,162 were young mothers who were also supported with monthly childcare vouchers. One young mother had this to say “I am deeply grateful to Seed of Hope for providing me with the opportunity that has changed the trajectory of my life for the better”.
After completing their courses, the students began their internships in December and are now eagerly awaiting their graduation ceremonies in January 2025. These graduations celebrations are currently underway as follows:
On Friday January 17th, 344 students graduated from one of our rural centre in Murang’a County.
On Friday January 24th, another 357 students will graduate from the Nairobi Seed of Hope Centre.
And on Friday January 31st another 366 students will graduate from our other rural centre in Kitui County, where we will also be launching a newly constructed kitchen.
We are proud to report a minimal dropout rate of just four students out of all the students enrolled in 2024, reflecting the community’s appreciation for the impact of our courses but also reflecting the continued need in the communities of the Seed of Hope free training. Seed of Hope continues to reach the most vulnerable young people, empowering them with skills and opportunities for a brighter future.
In December 2024, 161 students registered for the government exams offered by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), marking another milestone as all our three training centres were accredited by the government to be examination centres!
At the Murang’a centre graduation ceremony, it was especially inspiring to see girls excel in traditionally male-dominated fields of Electrical Wiring and Installation Course. One of the graduates, *Joy shared, “I am ready to challenge men in this field. I am looking forward to success”.
The enrollment for the 2025 academic year is progressing well, with 347 students already enrolled across the three centres. We are expecting to have hit a 465 students target across the three centres by the end of the month of January.
Thank you for your unwavering support and for being an integral part of these achievements. Together, we are supporting the most vulnerable youth in Kenya and transforming their lives and building a brighter future for the next generation.
We wish you all our supporters a happy and fulfilling year 2025!
The Seed of Hope Team.
