In underserved Nigerian communities, poverty, school dropout, and gender-based violence block girls' futures. This project will equip 100 girls with vocational skills, life-skills education, mentorship, and starter support. By combining economic empowerment with protection awareness, participants gain confidence, safe income pathways, and tools to break cycles of vulnerability and poverty
Nigeria has one of the largest youth populations globally, with over 70% under age 30 (National Bureau of Statistics, 2023). Many Adolescent girls and young women drop out of school due to poverty, early marriage, or domestic responsibilities. Limited access to vocational training, mentorship, and financial resources keeps them in low-paying, informal work and increases exposure to exploitation and gender-based violence.
EFI will deliver a 6-12 month empowerment program combining vocational skills training, life-skills and financial literacy education, mentorship, and gender-based violence prevention. Participants will receive practical training, starter support, and referrals to income opportunities. The program prioritizes dignity, safety, and measurable outcomes, ensuring participants gain skills, confidence, and pathways to economic independence.
100 girls will gain marketable skills and stable income sources. Increased earnings improve household welfare, support children's education, and reduce vulnerability to exploitation. Empowered girls become role models, shifting community norms, while the project strengthens local capacity and creates a replicable model for women-led economic empowerment across underserved Nigerian communities.
