Update on the progress report on

By Akaraonye Samuel ifeanyi | Founder/CEO

This quarterly report provides an overview of the current status, achievements, challenges, and future prospects of the project "Empower 100 Nigerian Youth through Entrepreneurship (55718)."

Although the project has not received external funding to date, the Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation (SOHF), a sector-agnostic hybrid organization committed to fostering sustainable development, remains optimistic and strategically positioned for impactful implementation. Strategic collaborations, including Thrive UpliftTrust Ltd (TUT Empower®) for grants and microcredit support, and SOHF' FinTech Solutions® for digital financial inclusion, have been structured to enhance the project's success once resources are mobilized.

Project Overview

The Empower 100 Nigerian Youth through Entrepreneurship project aims to equip vulnerable and unemployed youth with entrepreneurial skills, start-up support, mentorship, and digital financial services to create sustainable businesses.

This initiative is part of the broader Revolutionizing Youth Employment in Nigeria (RYEN) Program, which seeks to reduce youth unemployment by promoting self-sufficiency, innovation, and inclusive economic growth.

Key innovations include partnerships with:

Thrive UpliftTrust Ltd (TUT Empower®): Providing grants and microcredit facilities tailored for underserved youth entrepreneurs.

SOHF' FinTech Solutions®: Offering mobile-driven financial services, business wallets, savings plans, and micro-investment platforms to strengthen youth-led startups.

Activities Undertaken this Quarter

Strategic Planning and Partnerships:

Developed partnership agreements with Thrive UpliftTrust Ltd (TUT Empower®) for youth-friendly microcredit programs and seed grants.

Integrated SOHF' FinTech Solutions® into the project framework to enable digital onboarding and financial literacy training for participants.

Awareness Creation:

Launched pre-project awareness campaigns, with special focus on financial literacy and access to soft loans through our FinTech platforms.

Beneficiary Mobilization:

Shortlisted 250 interested youths after a rigorous needs-assessment survey, preparing to select the first batch of 100 once funding is available.

Capacity Building:

Internal training for project staff on delivering blended learning (physical and digital modules) using SOHF' FinTech Solutions® tools.

Challenges Faced

Funding Constraints:

External funding has yet to materialize despite multiple grant applications and donor outreach.

Youth Frustration and High Expectations:

Delays have caused anxiety among the shortlisted candidates who are eager to begin their entrepreneurship journey.

Operational Bottlenecks:

Limited resources have slowed the pilot launch of financial inclusion onboarding via SOHF' FinTech Solutions®.

Solutions and Adaptations

Strategic Fundraising and Blended Financing Models:

Expanded fundraising strategy to include blended finance – grants, microloans (through Thrive UpliftTrust Ltd), and crowd-sourced support.

Phased and Modular Rollout:

Designed a flexible, phased training and empowerment plan, allowing for immediate pilot batches with minimal startup funding.

Strengthening FinTech Engagement:

Upgraded SOHF' FinTech Solutions® mobile platform to enable faster digital registration, loan application, and business savings accounts.

Community-driven Support Networks:

Partnered with local cooperatives and SMEs to mentor and guide participants, providing in-kind support such as workspace, tools, and mentorship.

Future Prospects

High Potential for Immediate Impact:

Given the groundwork already laid, once minimal seed funding is secured, we can launch digital onboarding via SOHF' FinTech Solutions® and start disbursing microloans through Thrive UpliftTrust Ltd (TUT Empower®) immediately.

Scaling Beyond 100 Youths:

SOHF envisions scaling the initiative to empower up to 500 Nigerian youths over the next 18 months through a combination of grants, microcredits, and digital financial tools.

Sustainable Development and Financial Inclusion:

By integrating SOHF' FinTech Solutions®, we ensure beneficiaries not only gain entrepreneurial skills but also build credit histories, savings habits, and financial resilience.

Alignment with National and Global Goals:

The project contributes directly to SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

Conclusion

While we continue to await critical funding support, the Empower 100 Nigerian Youth through Entrepreneurship project remains a transformative initiative ready to bridge the unemployment gap.

Through strategic collaborations with Thrive UpliftTrust Ltd (TUT Empower®) and the deployment of SOHF' FinTech Solutions®, we are not only promoting entrepreneurship but also revolutionizing youth access to financial opportunities in Nigeria.

With continued resilience, strategic innovation, and partnership expansion, SOHF is committed to changing the narrative for Nigeria’s youth.

Best regards,

Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation (SOHF)
