The project is gear toward building the capacities of 100 adult orphan girls in Liberian orphanages through Vocational and Technical Skill; enhancing their ability to serve sustainability, and enlighting their mind to Small Business Management and Life Coaching before they transition orphanages. It is going to ensure that the livelihood of girls is built as they transition to independent living after the orphanage.
A survey conducted by Orphans Concern convincingly demonstrates young adult orphan girls who leave the orphanages without formal education and vocational skills, with no understanding of a career choice and no peer to peer education skills are faced with lots of psychological problems that force them to become early mothers thus becoming a liability on society. This alarming factor undermines the fundamental Women's Rights and Gender Equality the world yearns to achieve.
In order to break this barrier and allow young adult orphan girls leaving orphanages to take their destiny into their hands, with the right mindset to live within the confines of the law and become productive in society, building their capacities through Vocational or Technical Skills, a grant for Small Business Management and Life Coaching before they leave the orphanages is the best way to empower them, and to ensures their livelihood and prevention.
When young adult orphan girls are educated and empowered, they become a powerful force for change. Reducing sexual violence and discrimination against girls frees them to grow a healthy and productive workforce, delay pregnancy, and have healthier children. An extra year of primary school boosts girls' eventual wages by 20%, and an extra year of secondary school adds 25%, making economies more fair and prosperous for all. Empowered women reinvest 90% of their income in their families,
