Dear supporters, family and friends of Serendipity,

The last you heard from us, we had a first visit to the community in Tofa Town of Tofa Local Governing council. We commenced the first phase of the project with our partners Mallam Abba of Dandago Agricutural Company and Malama Yawo a trainer on groundnut oil processing and extraction. They taught 10 women from Sauki Cooperative Society, a women only cooperative group in Tofa; the first batch of our goal of empowering 100 women.

A locally fabricated processing machine was handed over to them to ease the process of oil extraction and day one of the trainings taught the 10 women members of the group on how to process groundnut and extract it into oil. Training was conducted on the use, maintenance, processing of the groundnut.

Prior to now, it took approximately 8 hours to process and extract oil using local methods but with the introduction of the machine, it took just 2 hours to complete the process.

Subsequent trainings were on basic entrepreneurial skills, bookkeeping and accounting which was handled by our executive director such that they can be accountable in their joint business as well as track their expenditure and income.

A soft grant was given to each woman such that they can jumpstart on improving on their income through the cooperative with the Tofa Development Association as a supervisory body for sustainability. We would embark upon more trainings on packaging of these products for onward sale to the wider public as their sales are limited to within the community itself.

This model can be replicated in neighbouring communities as the women trained will not only act as mentors but will also train other upcoming women. Will you help them to succeed on this dream? Your donation towards provision of training of entrepreneurial skills and machines to these women will not only alleviate poverty but bring about development to the community and state.
