Time to adapt to a New Climate, what does it mean for Women in Nigeria?

Re - Training on the use of the processing machine

Dear Friends, Family and Supporters of Serendipity Healthcare Foundation,

As a new political climate emerges in Nigeria and reaching the sustainable developement goal 1 of No poverty is becoming distressfully obvious that meeting this goal is extremely challenging especially in the rural communities where economic growth is to provide sustainable jobs and equality amongst women and men.

Thus we at Serendipity Healthcare Foundation came up with a month long plan to raise awareness of the plight of rural women in Kano, Nigeria and what better month to use than the month of March which was the International Women's month. We looked at how can we bring new tools and practices to contribute to the broader agenda for achieving SDG 1.

Most importantly we should expand our view beyound proving infrastructure for these women but consider the whole cycle of processing and wastage reduction but also teach them the basics of how to make their businesses grow and become sustainable and thus get new markets for them.

First step we embarked upon was a press release on raising awareness on the need for help in empowering these rural women in communities through radio stations, social media and interviews with media houses. We also during the period had two batches of re - trainings on basic entreprenuerial skills for the women that were earlier given the processing and threshing machines.

Alot more needs to be done for these women now that there are scarce resources and the poverty index ratings in Nigeria has increased to 53.7% according to UNDP 2018 having the highest rate of extreme poverty which could worsen in the coming years if these current trends of unemployment, gender inequality continues.

Your kind and generous donations will not allow this to happen thus this is time to say STOP and the time to GIVE is NOW!! As we at Serendipity have been putting smiles on these women and changing their lives.

Yours Sincerely,
