Town Hall meeting

Dear supporters, family and friends of Serendipity,

With your support, Serendipity is changing the lives of women in Tofa town of Tofa community our pilot project community. We chose Tofa Town being that we had a WASH project intervention in the community earlier on and now transiting into provision of locally fabricated processing and threshing machines as well as training on entrepreneurial skills for select at risk women to become self-reliant.

In September we made a first visit to the community where we had a town hall meeting with all the key stakeholders,  explaining the project and how we need their utmost cooperation and partnership. We have also partnered with an agricultural firm that will teach women on skills on how to use threshing and processing machines as well as packaging of the agricultural products for onward sale to the wider public.

During our visit, we witnessed how the women thresh millet and upon observation shows alot of wastage and it was not done under good sanitary conditions. Part of our next stage assignment is to identify the women, organise them into groups and start the first stage trainings on good processing practices. Over the next few months our field team will see the project building upon ensuring that 10% of the women have been taught on how to process and package their goods for sale as well as locally fabricated machines handed over to them such that it is a success.

Our pilot community of Tofa women being trained on processing of agricutural produce will attain the dream of gaining additional income that will assist their families and being empowered to take informed decisions that will impact positively on their lives. This model can be replicated in neighbouring communities as the women trained wil not only act as mentors but will also train other upcoming women. Will you help them to succeed on this dream? Your donation towards provision of training of entrepreneurial skills and machines to these women will not only alleviate poverty but bring about developement to the community and state.
