By Aluwani Ramarumo | Program Lead
We are proud to share a significant milestone in the Africa Matters Ambassador Program (AMAP). On 29 July 2025, nine (9) program participants will officially graduate, marking the completion of an inspiring journey filled with leadership development, advocacy training, and community impact design.
As part of this milestone, five (5) of these ambassadors will receive seed funding to implement their Community Engagement Projects (CEPs), youth-led initiatives that tackle critical local challenges through innovative, sustainable solutions. These projects reflect the heart of AMAP: empowering African youth to become changemakers in their communities.
This achievement not only celebrates the resilience and growth of our participants but also reaffirms AMAP’s commitment to equipping young leaders with the tools, confidence, and vision to lead from where they are.
World Refugee Day Spotlight – Sadak (Kenya, AMAP 2023–2024)
In honour of World Refugee Day, we spotlighted Sadak, an inspiring AMAP alumnus from Kenya who grew up in a Refugee Camp after fleeing conflict as a child. Through his CEP, Sadak addressed barriers to higher education by leading a three-day workshop on university admissions and English preparation, testing over 100 students, facilitating language course enrollment, and creating academic self-help guides, empowering refugee youth to pursue their dreams against all odds.
Sadak’s work is a powerful reminder that hope, access, and advocacy can break cycles and open doors for a brighter future.
Alumni Spotlight – Musa (Sierra Leone, AMAP 2023–2024)
On 6 July 2025, Musa, an AMAP alumnus from Sierra Leone, and his organization LEAD Sierra Leone celebrated the graduation of the first cohort from their Community Innovation Hub. Over 50 young people completed hands-on training in ICT, tailoring, and cake baking, showcasing the power of youth-led initiatives and how practical skills can unlock potential and drive transformation.
With Cohort 2 registration now open, LEAD Sierra Leone is expanding its reach and impact, one young leader at a time.
