Dear valuable supporter,
We're back to share some fresh news from the field!
TIPA works directly in the empowerment of vulnerable children, and has also developed strategies towards the empowerment of parents and youth, in order to consolidate and sustain our educational action.
The parents' and old pupils' engagement in the project is developing ; they are now getting involved in community workshops for the organization of events in the school locality, aiming at improving parent-child bonding, as well as a supportive attitude towards the school.
Indeed, developing parent-child bonding, has a direct effect on the development of the children. Researchers have found that the earlier in a child’s educational process that family involvement begins, the more powerful are the effects. The most effective forms of family involvement are those that engage families in working directly with their children on learning activities at home*.
Also, by empowering parents and youth, we aim at developing social leaders that will be able, in the long term, to take over the project and be agents of change in the school locality.
For that purpose, TIPA team is actually facilitating trainings and workshops that are providing parents and youth leaders, the necessary knowledge, as well as interpersonal and organizational skills, to develop educational actions.
Here are some feedback of the participants:
"I see that this project will help parents and children to come closer to each other. Both parents and children will learn to do something together. Parents will be able to teach their children something, and children will be able to share what they know with their parents." Parent from Tranquebar locality.
"It is great to see youngsters like these getting involved in this type of project." Parent Leading the project
"I am very happy that today, the old pupils are taking over" Old pupil at Tranquebar
This year, we are focusing on new strategies to reach more parents and more old pupils to join the core team and support the implementation of school localities projects.
We will be pleased to share, would you need further details of the action; so do not hesitate to contact us !
