Breastfeeding Gaps Put Infants at Risk

By Joy Ojochogwu Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you for your interest in the Empower 3,000 Mothers in Exclusive Breastfeeding project. At this time, no donations have been received, so the planned training and community support activities have not yet started.

In many communities across Nigeria, mothers face challenges when it comes to practicing exclusive breastfeeding. Some lack clear information, while others are influenced by cultural beliefs or do not receive guidance after childbirth. Without proper support, many infants are introduced to other foods too early.

When babies are not exclusively breastfed in their first months, they become more vulnerable to infections, poor nutrition, and slower growth. This can affect their health and survival, especially in areas where access to healthcare is limited.

This project is designed to support 3,000 mothers with practical knowledge and guidance on exclusive breastfeeding. Health workers and trained volunteers will provide counseling through group sessions, home visits, and community discussions. Mothers will learn proper breastfeeding techniques, nutrition, and how to care for their babies during the early months.

With the right information and support, more mothers can confidently breastfeed their children and improve their chances of healthy development. Early nutrition plays a strong role in building immunity and protecting infants during their most vulnerable stage.

We appreciate the attention given to this initiative and remain hopeful that support will come so these activities can begin and reach mothers who need guidance and encouragement.

Sincerely,

Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
