Challenge

The problem here is poverty and unhealthy living condition. Most women in the rural communities do not have a sustainable means of livelihood, they depend mostly on their husbands whose income can not put food on the table let alone providing necessary basic needs for their families, not to talk of sending their children to school. These women need to be equip with vocational skills to give them financial independence to reduce poverty, increase a healthy living and reduce school drop outs.

Solution

Entrepreneurial, Technology and Health Initiative will engage the services of 16 facilitators to train and equip these 400 eligible women in 8 selected vocational skills. At the end of the training, Entrepreneurial, Technology and Health Initiative Initiative will provide each woman with supplies and equipment to start ruining a business. We would monitor the progress of their businesses and provide help when needed for a period of five months to ascertain the impact of the project.

Long-Term Impact

The project will directly impact 400 women but indirectly it will impact over 1000 women because the knowledge gained will easily be replicated. There will be reduction of poverty and improvement of healthy living, the women will be economically and financially independent due to the sustainable vocational skill they were equip with. The rate of school drop out in the communities will reduce as the women will be able to also provide for their families.
