Empower 500 Women in Post-Conflict Borno

Dear Donors,

Thank you for supporting this project to empower 500 women in post-conflict Borno State, Nigeria. Your support will provide skills training, agricultural inputs, business grants, and healthcare services, helping women rebuild their lives and restore livelihoods after years of conflict.

Since 2009, insurgency in northeastern Nigeria has left countless women displaced, impoverished, and traumatized. Many have lost homes, family members, and access to traditional income sources. Without opportunities to earn and sustain themselves, women remain vulnerable to exploitation, child marriage, and unsafe survival strategies. Immediate interventions are crucial to break these cycles of poverty and vulnerability.

This project will equip women with vocational and entrepreneurial skills, provide support for small-scale farming, and offer business grants to start or expand ventures. Healthcare services, including maternal and mental health care, will ensure they can recover physically and emotionally. Together, these measures foster independence, resilience, and community recovery.

Empowered women will generate income, support their families, and reinvest in their communities. Girls’ education will improve, households will gain stability, and local economies will strengthen. Donations received so far are not sufficient to begin the program, but with your continued support, we can provide these women the tools and opportunities they need to rebuild their futures.

Hunger and Hardship Worsen in Borno North East

The project Empower 500 Women in Post-Conflict Borno, Nigeria was designed to address the harsh realities facing women in communities affected by years of conflict. Many of these women are widows, single mothers, or caregivers who lost their sources of income, homes, and safety. Without support, they continue to face hunger, lack of healthcare, and limited means to rebuild their lives.

Current Progress

We are deeply grateful to the individuals and groups who have already extended their generosity. Their donations have given this project a strong starting point. With these contributions, we have been able to carry out preliminary planning, select the communities most in need, and begin identifying the first group of beneficiaries.

The Challenge

Unfortunately, the gap between what we have raised and what is required to carry out the full project remains wide. The problems facing women in post-conflict Borno are overwhelming:

Many households headed by women lack steady food supplies.
Healthcare access is very limited, leaving mothers and children vulnerable.
Opportunities to earn a living are scarce, trapping families in long-term hardship.
Girls are often forced to leave school to work or marry early because families cannot cope.

These problems grow worse each day that passes without intervention.
The situation demands quick action. Every delay means more families fall deeper into suffering. This project is designed to provide immediate relief by equipping 500 women with training, seed capital, and tools to rebuild livelihoods, while also ensuring their children gain access to food and education. Timely funding will mean we can begin the full rollout without postponement.
