This project seeks to empower 500 rural Ugandan women in the renewable energy sector by addressing the existing gender gap through targeted interventions, thereby promoting gender equality, enhancing economic opportunities, and accelerating the growth of renewable energy solutions as part of the global transition to sustainable development and climate change mitigation.
Despite growth in renewable energy, rural women's involvement remains marginal in technical fields, policy-making, and entrepreneurship. Barriers like gender stereotypes, limited training, and access to finance hinder participation. Rural women bear the brunt of energy poverty, yet are excluded from benefits and opportunities in renewable energy projects. This project addresses the need to empower women through skill development, financial support, and leadership roles for amore inclusive future
Our project tackles the issue through: Training and capacity building: Equipping women with technical, financial, and managerial skills in renewable energy. Job placement and entrepreneurship support: Facilitating women's entry and retention in energy-related jobs and entrepreneurship, promoting sustainable livelihoods. This approach empowers women to participate in and benefit from the renewable energy sector, driving a more inclusive and sustainable future.
Our initiative ensures long-term sustainability through capacity building for women to manage renewable energy systems, revenue generation from energy sales, partnerships with key stakeholders, and advocacy for gender-inclusive energy policies
