Skills training for vulnerable girls

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear respected donors,

Thank you for supporting our project to empower 3,000 girls with safe, income-earning skills across Abuja, Lagos, Imo, Port Harcourt, and Delta State. Although the funds received so far are not yet enough to begin full training activities, your contribution is appreciated and helps bring attention to the urgent risks many girls face.

Across these states, poverty and lack of marketable skills continue to push girls into dangerous survival options. Many turn to egg selling, “baby factories,” or unsafe, exploitative work because they have no alternatives. These practices expose them to abuse, health complications, early pregnancies, and long-term trauma. Without intervention, girls remain trapped in cycles that limit their future and increase their vulnerability to exploitation.

This project will train 3,000 girls in tailoring, sanitary pad production, soap making, toilet cleaner production, baking, catering, and fashion design. To ensure the training leads to real economic change, each participant will receive a small start-up grant to begin business activities immediately. This approach provides both skills and capital, helping girls shift from risky survival strategies to stable work with dignity.

Once fully funded, the project will reduce exploitation, increase earnings for young women, and strengthen family stability. Girls who graduate from the program will be able to run micro-enterprises, supply their communities with needed products, and inspire younger girls to choose safer paths. Over time, these small businesses will support local economies and help reduce the social harms linked to unsafe income sources.

We are sincerely grateful for every donation received so far. Your support gives hope to girls who want a safer, more independent future and helps us build a pathway out of poverty for them.

Warm regards,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
