Project Report: Empowerment of Adolescent Girls

By Johannes Shikuloh | Project Leader

During this reporting period, ASPOVC continued implementing the Empowerment of Adolescent Girls project under difficult financial circumstances following the reduction of international development funding. Despite these challenges, we remained committed to supporting adolescent girls and ensuring that the project's impact continues as much as possible.
With limited resources, we prioritized activities that directly benefit adolescent girls through mentorship, guidance, and referrals to available community and government support services. The project continued to promote awareness of girls' rights, personal development, gender equality, and the importance of education, although on a smaller scale than originally planned.
Unfortunately, some planned community outreach sessions and group empowerment activities had to remain on hold due to funding shortages. These activities are essential for reaching girls in remote communities and providing life skills, leadership development, and information on preventing gender-based violence, early pregnancy, and child marriage. We are eager to resume these interventions as soon as additional funding becomes available.
During this quarter, ASPOVC placed significant emphasis on resource mobilization. We participated in GlobalGiving fundraising opportunities, including the upcoming Little by Little campaign, while also engaging potential partners and supporters to help sustain the project. We remain hopeful that these efforts will enable us to restore all planned activities and reach more adolescent girls in need.
Looking ahead, our priority is to restart community outreach programmes, strengthen girls' clubs and mentorship activities, expand access to life skills education, and continue creating safe spaces where adolescent girls can build confidence, develop leadership skills, and make informed decisions about their futures.
We are sincerely grateful to our donors, partners, and supporters for standing with us during this challenging period. Every contribution helps us move closer to our vision of empowering adolescent girls to become confident, resilient, and active participants in their communities. Together, we can continue creating lasting opportunities and brighter futures for the girls we serve.
