In rural Gambia and the Bijangos Islands, high maternal mortality rates stem from limited access to prenatal care and emergency obstetric services. Poverty, isolation, and scarce resources worsen health disparities, leaving residents vulnerable. Limited funding and medical supplies impede healthcare. Geographic isolation complicates access, with residents reliant on intermittent boat transport for mainland healthcare. This project will ensure healthcare access in these communities.
This project aims to strengthen existing healthcare infrastructure by investing in facility upgrades, medical equipment, and essential supplies. Additionally, our program will expand outreach programs and mobile clinics to reach remote villages, ensuring that even the most isolated communities can access healthcare services.
