Protect 300 girls from Child domestic work in Peru

AGTR runs a project at Jugando Aprendo, a community learning and play space in Pamplona Alta, San Juan de Miraflores, where 30 girls who are or are at risk of becoming child domestic workers can find a safe place to play, learn, share, and, above all, enjoy being girls. 

During one of our activities, two girls accepted the challenge of carrying a balloon together, holding it between their foreheads without letting it fall. Through laughter, attempts, and lots of teamwork, they discovered that to succeed they needed to listen to each other, coordinate, and work together. 

This simple game helped us achieve our goal of strengthening friendship, companionship, and teamwork, but it also reminded us of something very important: girls need safe spaces where they can connect with others, make friends, and feel that they belong. 

Over time, the girls who participate in Jugando Aprendo gain more than new knowledge. They build friendships, strengthen their confidence, and find a welcoming place where they can express themselves, play, and feel cared for. For many of them, this has become a special moment they look forward to each week. 

One of the girls shared words that beautifully capture what this space means to them: 

“I like coming because I can play with my friends and learn new things. We have fun together here.” 

Every game, every laugh, and every new friendship is part of a childhood that deserves to be protected and enjoyed.
