Project report: Violence prevention to indigenous girls COVID time
In Los Altos de Chiapas
In these months, 3 workshops on sexual and reproductive health were held for high school youth who, due to the covid-19, have not been able to have better attention on the subject, these workshops were focused on the protection of their health due to the covid-19. 4 youth initiatives have been formed, training them on topics such as Emotion Management, gender, Sexual and Reproductive Health, as well as training in space management to disseminate materials related to Covid-19, violence prevention and prevention of psychoactive substance use . 4 meetings of intersectoral roundtables were held with health and youth organizations to join forces in favor of the communities of San Juan Cancuc and Chenalho. An emotional containment workshop was held with local and educational authorities for the return to classes, in Chenalho and San Juan Cancuc. Materials were produced as a radio spot with fundamental information on the vaccine against Covid-19 in the mother tongues (Tsotsil and Tsetal).
In the Lacandon Jungle of Chiapas
This report discloses the actions that Ch'ieltik has carried out during the months of April to June 2021 for the benefit of the indigenous women of Nuevo San Juan Chamula in order to create spaces for youth participation and leadership, through the project "Violence prevention to indigenous girls COVID time".
• During the months of April, May and June at the 427 “Rufino Tamayo” telesecundaria school in the Nuevo San Juan Chamula community, training workshops were given on the subject of managing emotions and gender, in order to inspire the girls and above all for meaningful learning.
• Materials for sanitation and prevention for covid19 were delivered to each institution and could also be used for the different activities we carry out.
• The alliance with channel 14 of the cd was obtained. from Mexico thanks to the management of the Ch’ieltik organization to document the process in the community of Nuevo San Juan Chamula and Las Margaritas, where interviews were conducted with the girls.
That is why we continue in the process of making known the importance of YOUTH PARTICIPATION AND LEADERSHIP IN WOMEN so that they can develop in an environment full of learning for the prevention of violence against women.
