Many Tanzanians returning from China,France,Italy, UAE, South Africa, or dangerous journeys through the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea have experienced traumatic situations, including human trafficking and exploitation. After returning home, many face stigma, limited support services, and few economic opportunities, making reintegration into society difficult. This project will provide life skills training to 200 Tanzanian returnees and trafficking survivors in Dares salaam.
Many Tanzanians returning from Oman,UAE, and South Africa have experienced traumatic situations, including trafficking and exploitation. According to migration and anti-trafficking reports, a significant number of trafficking survivors from Tanzania and other transit countries during irregular migration journeys. Between recent years, Tanzania has received many returnees who face unemployment, social exclusion, and psychological challenges upon return. The lack of practical vocational trainings
This project aims to equip 200 Tanzanian returnees and trafficking survivors in Dar es Salaam and Mwanza with practical vocational skills in tailoring, soap and hygiene product production, and reusable sanitary kits making. Through hands-on training and the provision of starter kits, participants will be supported to establish small businesses and improve their income generation opportunities, reducing the risk of re-trafficking. Community-based reintegration initiatives will help finding jobs.
By supporting 200 Tanzanian returnees and trafficking survivors with sustainable livelihood opportunities, this project will promote economic independence and successful social reintegration. Building on community reintegration approaches used in Tanzania and across East Africa, over the next two years, the project aims to reduce re-trafficking cases in targeted communities by 40%, support the establishment of over 50 sustainable small businesses, and train 50 project graduates.
