Empower teachers to help children in Mexico thrive

Your new and recurring donations are giving us so much hope!  Thank you for helping us pay our teachers and  by providing funds to purchase meaningful, engaging supplies for the classroom. 

Our Little by Little Campaign in April was a success! Our goal was to raise $600 in new donations. Thanks to you Angels, we collected $1,490 in donations to which GlobalGiving matched, bringing us to a total of $1,736. raised.  With donations raised in this campaign, we can pay our electricity bill for 4 months and purchase pencils and other classroom materials for 3 classrooms.

We currently have 4 paid preschool teachers and two volunteer teachers for 6 classrooms. Each classroom has about 20 children. We also provide full-day childcare for babies in 2 rooms. A couple of years ago, we had to cut back the number of teachers and could not help as many children. We are grateful for the increase in donations that has allowed us increase our class numbers. 

Volunteer Teachers- In 2024, we want to raise enough in donations to continue paying our current staff and to pay our two volunteer teachers. Our volunteer teachers love working with our organization and they deserve to be paid for their commitment. Paying our teachers shows them respect for the diligent and hard work they do. Let’s keep our teachers!

The exchange rate of American dollar to pesos has dropped over the past year.  This plus inflation has brought an added challenge to fully funding our mission. Please consider increasing your recurring donation or make a one-time contribution to help us meet expenses for the remainder of 2024.

Because of your donations, we are able to provide a cost of living increase to our 4 Preschool teachers and 2 Daycare staff, this year, starting in January 2024!  This is great news because, sadly, two of our valued teachers went to work in the public school system, which pays a higher salary.  We understand that the salary we pay is the lowest allowed by the state of Guanajuato, so we are happy those teachers found a way to better support their own families.  At the same time, we are so grateful to the teachers and staff who are dedicated to our mission!  Providing our teachers with an adequate salary will help them support their own families and help them feel more invested in our mission.

Our Teachers and staff are the most valuable assets of our organization!  They demonstrate how to learn new things and be in community with a variety of individuals, each with a different set of emotions, needs and abilities.  Every time I volunteer, I witness and experience the staff working together to create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere at the Center.

Here at Centro Infantil de los Angeles, it is our teachers who create engaging, age-appropriate lessons for their unique group of children. As you can imagine, a group of preschoolers can be a handful to keep engaged in learning and play time. These teachers need to be 100% focused for several hours straight, while children are present.  Then these teachers go home and work on lesson plans for the next day. It is a lot of work for them and we appreciate them so much!

 Your donations also  helped us pay utilities and equip classrooms with needed learning supplies.  We now have Sponsors for 33 of our 99 children. Your donations help us empower the teachers by supporting their salary, buying classroom supplies, paying utilities and sponsoring the children.
