Across Nepal, a quiet crisis is unfolding. Each year, more than 750,000 young people leave the country in search of work abroad—often taking difficult, low-paying jobs far from home and leaving their families behind. This is not a lack of ambition or willingness to work. It is often a lack of access to practical, job-ready skills that align with real opportunities within Nepal.
At Nepal Youth Foundation (NYF), we believe vocational education offers a powerful alternative. Through Olgapuri Vocational School, young people gain hands-on training in high-demand trades such as electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and industrial tailoring, as well as essential life skills like financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
Because of you, these opportunities are not only possible—they’re changing lives.
Sita’s Story: Skills That Open Doors
One of the young women shaped by this support is Sita, 23, who left school early and spent years working as a domestic helper. With limited options, steady employment felt out of reach.
After enrolling in the Industrial Tailoring program at Olgapuri Vocational School, Sita completed her training and secured employment. Today, she is earning her own income, planning for her future, and building a new sense of confidence and independence.
“I can now get a job anywhere I want,” Sita proudly shared with the NYF team.
This Year’s Vocational Impact
Over the past year, your generosity helped NYF reach hundreds of young people with the training and support they need to thrive. This year alone:
910 young people completed vocational training
93% graduated
75% were employed within three months
135 women completed Industrial Tailoring training
These are young people who might otherwise have felt forced to leave Nepal in order to survive. Instead, they are staying, working, and strengthening their communities from within.
With Gratitude
Thank you for making stories like Sita’s possible. Your support is not just funding training—it is helping young people access dignity, stability, and a future at home, where their skills can grow and their families can stay together.
