Empower to Thrive: Give Skills, Build Futures

Project Report | Jan 24, 2026
Preparatory Stage Done

By Ikechukwu Kelechukwu | Executive Director

1. Project Overview

Many Nigerian youths and women face unemployment, economic vulnerability, and digital exclusion. In rural communities like Mararaba (Nasarawa State) and Okigwe (Imo State), insecurity and poverty have left families dependent and young people without opportunities to develop marketable skills.

Empower Future Initiative (EFI) has launched the Empower to Thrive: Give Skills, Build Futures campaign to address these challenges by providing practical digital literacy, graphic design, web development, and entrepreneurship training to 2,025 underserved youths and women.

2. Progress Update

Although fundraising has not yet begun, EFI has made substantial preparations to ensure immediate impact once funding is secured:

  • Curriculum Design: Training modules for digital and vocational skills have been finalized.

  • Mentorship Program: A framework for mentorship and career guidance is ready to support learners’ transition from training to earning.

  • Beneficiary Identification: Communities in Mararaba and Okigwe have been surveyed, and a preliminary list of 675 potential learners has been drafted.

  • Resource Planning: Starter kits, learning materials, and digital access plans are prepared to equip participants for hands-on training.

3. Expected Outcomes

Once implemented, this project will:

  • Provide 2,025 underserved youths and women with marketable digital and vocational skills.

  • Facilitate mentorship and career guidance, increasing employability and entrepreneurship opportunities.

  • Break cycles of poverty by enabling participants to earn sustainable incomes.

  • Foster community development as beneficiaries become role models and mentors to others.

  • Promote gender equality and align with UN Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

4. Challenges

  • Funding: As of this report, no funds have been received. Securing donor support remains critical to launching training.

  • Digital Access: Many potential learners require internet access and devices to participate fully. EFI has prepared solutions but requires funding to implement them.

  • Logistics in Rural Areas: Travel, security, and training space arrangements need finalization in some remote communities.

5. Next Steps

  • Launch fundraising campaigns to secure resources for 2,025 beneficiaries.

  • Complete the final selection of learners based on community surveys.

  • Begin deployment of training materials, starter kits, and digital access support.

  • Initiate mentorship sessions in tandem with training modules.

  • Track participation, course progress, and early outcomes to demonstrate impact to donors.

6. Call to Action

You can help transform lives:

  • Donate: Your support will fund training, mentorship, and starter kits.

  • Spread Awareness: Share the campaign with your network to help reach more donors.

  • Partner: Collaborate with EFI to provide skills, mentorship, and employment pathways for Nigerian youths and women.
