Across rural villages in Cambodia and the highlands of Peru, Globalteer continues to bring education, nourishment, and hope to children who might otherwise be left behind. Through the combined efforts of Helping Hands Cambodia, Picaflor House, and the Mobile Library Project, this quarter we reached more than 420 children in underserved communities, ensuring that every child, no matter where they live, has access to quality learning, nutrition, and a safe environment to grow.
From the rice fields of Siem Reap to the mountains of Cusco, each lesson, meal, and smile is a step toward breaking the cycle of poverty through education.
Cambodia: Learning, Growing, and Leading Together
362 children participated in our education programs in rural Cambodia this quarter, receiving 7,133 nutritious breakfasts, academic instruction, and workshops on hygiene and nutrition.
Despite the challenges of the rainy season, our students remained motivated, resilient, and full of curiosity.
Teachers continued to make learning dynamic and fun through recycling relay, reading circles, and excursions. Visits to the Angkor National Museum and the Botanical Gardens linked classroom lessons with real world understanding, inspiring students to see themselves as part of a wider community of learners.
The school library was also upgraded, now featuring a growing collection of reading materials and textbooks that promote literacy and public speaking skills. These changes have not only strengthened students’ comprehension but have built confidence and self expression.
From Students to Mentors
The spirit of empowerment continues to grow within Helping Hands.
One graduate completed an internship to develop her teaching skills.
Another trainee graduated from university, joining our teaching team.
Two scholarship students Ponna and Nita began university, studying Teaching English as a Second Language and Public Administration.
Both are the first in their families to attend higher education, paving the way for others in their community.
Overcoming Challenges
Heavy rains flooded roads and temporarily halted classes, but attendance quickly returned to normal. Families facing job insecurity received guidance and support from our staff to ensure children’s education remained a priority. Teachers participated in collaborative sessions and received training on child psychology and inclusive education. Volunteer Becky brought new life to English lessons through reading games and songs, while intern Phoebe supported classroom content and social media storytelling.
Inspiring Story: Once a shy student, Dara is now a teaching assistant and community role model. She mentors younger students and visits families to encourage continued education, demonstrating how access to learning can transform not only individuals but entire communities.
Peru: Nurturing Minds and Dreams in Oropesa
In the village of Oropesa, Picaflor House continues to be a sanctuary for children facing poverty and limited educational opportunities. Between July and September, 61 after-school classes were delivered to 49 regularly attending students, accompanied by 2,672 nutritious meals that support both health and concentration.
Our curriculum now includes computer literacy classes, made possible through donations of laptops and tablets. These digital lessons are giving children new skills in document creation, online research, and safe internet navigation, essential tools for their future academic and professional success.
Workshops on human rights, teamwork, and creativity complemented academic sessions, helping children gain both confidence and life skills.
Cultural Exchange and Community Growth
A visit from Pipers Corner School (UK) offered students a unique chance to learn through cultural exchange, English conversation, and shared performances. Together, children from both countries celebrated Student Day and Children’s Day with music, dance, and laughter.
Volunteer Elena from Italy led cooking and art workshops that encouraged collaboration, creativity, and intercultural understanding. Her “Pizza Day” activity became a highlight of the term, symbolizing unity through learning.
Stories of Transformation
Jorge (10) once struggled with shyness and reading. Today, he confidently participates in class, reads aloud, and dreams of becoming a police officer.
Alejandra & Fabiana (8), once behind in literacy and math, now excel academically and socially, proving that care and patience can unlock potential.
Each story represents the profound change education brings — one child, one lesson, one meal at a time.
Peru’s Mobile Library: Learning Beyond Walls
The Mobile Library project continued to reach isolated Andean communities, providing children in Kallarayan with access to books and creative learning. Working at altitudes above 3,500 meters, the team delivered literacy-focused sessions blending reading, storytelling, art, and play.
Achievements This Quarter
Children collectively read 37 stories, strengthening fluency and comprehension.
Lessons developed core literacy skills, from letter recognition to critical thinking.
Activities like kite making, theater, and art contests promoted creativity and collaboration.
Despite harsh weather and long distances, children’s commitment never faltered. The program’s long-term impact is clear: a growing culture of reading and learning that bridges education, family, and community.
Looking Ahead
As we move into the final quarter of 2025, both projects aim to:
Expand digital education in Peru’s rural areas.
Strengthen teacher training in Cambodia.
Continue mobile literacy programs across the Andes.
Increase local community involvement to ensure sustainability.
Education remains the most powerful tool for change, and through your support, children in Cambodia and Peru continue to rise above challenges, equipped with knowledge, confidence, and dreams for a better future.
Your generosity fuels this journey. Every book read, every meal served, and every smile shared is a testament to what we can achieve together.
With continued commitment, we are not only educating children, we are empowering future leaders who will transform their communities.
