Summary

Did you know about 30% of mothers struggle to buy new diapers for their babies every year? Did you know 65% of those mothers who can't afford diapers suffer from depression or anxiety? This has been the leading cause of mental health problems among new moms. Diapers are a simple, yet over-looked basic need with an impact that is so much more than basic sanitation and hygiene. It's dignity, empowerment, hope, and the luxury of freedom.

Challenge

Imagine reusing a disposable diaper for your baby because you couldn't afford new ones. Right now, 30% of mothers living in extreme poverty who have to choose between food and diapers, which results in over 65% of those mothers suffering from depression and anxiety as well as infant mortality. All of which could simply be changed with reusable, resizable cloth diapers.

Solution

Just 12 cloth diapers can diaper a baby from infancy through potty-training! Jake's Diapers provides Diaper Drops in Haiti to improve the health of both mother and their babies as well as decrease infant mortality rates. Complete kits include two different sizes of reusable, resizable cloth diapers; one wet bag; 12 cloth wipes; two covers and 12 inserts (flats/prefolds). All diapers are hand washable after a full day's use.

Long-Term Impact

Providing 12 cloth diapers to every mother in Haiti would reduce infant mortality rates drastically, leave mothers more money to feed the whole family, and decrease the number of mothers suffering with anxiety and depression from worrying about their children's health. Overtime, this would leave to a healthier population of people who could cater other needs in the community.
