Greetings again from VOICE Trust..!!

Thank you so much for your continous supports for women through VOICE Trust. And we are going beyond 20, more than 60 women have attended Digital Literacy workshop. With your support we are going to reach 100 women now. They are progressing in Agribusiness and able to make their and their families economic status a sustainable one..!!

Achieving gender equality and empowering women is not only the right thing to do but is a critical ingredient in the fight against extreme poverty, hunger and malnutrition, FAO Director,

We know that agricultural yields would rise by almost a third if women had the same access to resources as men. As a result, there would be up to 150 million fewer hungry people in the world. And we know that children have significantly better prospects for the future when their mothers are healthy, wealthy and educated. Especially during the first 1,000 days of a child's life.

Key facts

In developing countries, women make up 45% of the agricultural labour force, ranging from 20% in Latin America to up to 60% in parts of Africa and Asia.
In developing countries in Africa and Asia and the Pacific, women typically work 12-13 hours more than men per week.
Across all regions women are less likely than men to own or control land, and their plots often are of poorer quality. Less than 20% of the world's landholders are women.
If women farmers had the same access to resources as men, the number of hungry people in the world could be reduced by up to 150 million due to productivity gains.
Women reinvest up to 90% of their earnings back into their households - that's money spent on nutrition, food, healthcare, school, and income-generating activities - helping to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

A women achieving financial sustainability is making the entire family survive.

Progressing towards upgrading of sustainable incomes

Monthly meetings by 20 Women

According to the World Bank’s 2012 World Development Report: Gender Equality and Development, closing these gender gaps matters for development and policymaking. Greater gender equality can enhance economic productivity, improve development outcomes for the next generation, and make institutions and policies more representative.

Many gender disparities remain even as countries develop, which calls for sustained and focused public action. Corrective policies will yield substantial development payoffs if they focus on persistent gender inequalities that matter most for welfare. To be effective, these measures must target the root causes of inequality without ignoring the domestic political economy.

Gearing up development

How gender equality evolves as development proceeds can best be understood through the responses of households to the functioning and structure of markets and institutions—both formal (such as laws, regulations, and delivery of government services) and informal (such as gender roles, norms, and social networks).

VOICE Trust has given trainings and empowered thousands of Women and we focus on these 20 Women to support their Agribusiness. Each of them do different types of creation of value added products and all of them together produce organic manure. And the District Collector has asked us to set up an organic manure store and we have displayed the models and he appreciated our women Self Help Groups. These Women are seeking your help for next level and after that they will be sustainable through out their life time.

"Food, Nutrition, Health and WASH" Camp for 40 rural Women

A healthy diet has many benefits, including a reduced risk of various diseases and health conditions, improved mood, and better memory.

Benefits of Healthy Eating

May help you live longer.
Keeps skin, teeth, and eyes healthy.
Supports muscles.
Boosts immunity.
Strengthens bones.
Lowers risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers.
Supports healthy pregnancies and breastfeeding.
Helps the digestive system function.

Growing up in a clean and safe environment is every human right. Access to clean water, basic toilets, and good hygiene practices not only keeps children thriving, but also gives them a healthier start in life.

Despite COVID-19 putting the spotlight on the importance of hand hygiene to prevent the spread of disease, three billion people worldwide, including hundreds of millions of school-going children, do not have access to handwashing facilities with soap. People living in rural areas, urban slums, disaster-prone areas and low-income countries are the most vulnerable and the most affected.

Key facts

Worldwide, 2.2 billion people still lack access to safe drinking water.
More than half of the global population does not have access to safe sanitation.
Three billion people do not have access to handwashing facilities with soap.
Still, 673 million people practice open defecation.

The consequences of unsafe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) on children can be deadly. Over 700 children under age 5 die every day of diarrhoeal diseases due to lack of appropriate WASH services. In areas of conflict, children are nearly 20 times more likely to die from diarrhoeal disease than from the conflict itself.

Report on Food, Nutrition, Health and Wash Camp for 40 rural Women Leaders:

Mr.Julius Theoder, Assistant Project Officer, TNSRLM (Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission), Alathur Block, Perambalur District started his speech by greeting the members present and the VOICE Trust members and gave introduction about the session to the gathering. He emphasises on consuming nutrient rich foods and their importance. Then he told about the significance of maintaining proper health and hygiene.

Mr. Karuppusamy, Project Director, TNSRLM (Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission), Alathur Block, Perambalur District insists on relying on nutrient rich foods and he also told that the nutrient rich foods should be distributed equally among all people irrespective of an economical status. He also said that pregnancy women must take foods that rich in nutrition to prevent any physical or mental disabilities caused to new born babies. He told the gathering about the importance of consuming nutrient rich foods which helps in preventing anemic conditions in people. Training given here on this session should go beyond the doors and reach various people and he also mention that the growth should be sustainable.

Mr. Karthikeyan, Agriculture Program Coordinator of VOICE Trust, Trichy presented on the topic of the day. He told about the nutrients (vitamins, proteins, fibres, fats, iron etc.) present in the vegetables (this include 10 types of seeds distributed to farmers by TNSRLM (Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission) Alathur Block, Permbalur District). He also told about the deficiencies (anemia and it's symptoms ) caused due to malnutrition. Then he talked about the ill effects caused by eating junk foods. And finally he wind off the presentation by saying the importance of personal hygiene and cleanliness.

Then Mrs. Kavitha, CAPART Trainee, VOICE Trust, Trichy started to interact with the gathering regarding personal hygiene, then she told about nutrient management and life cycle of an insect with chart presentation. Then she told the gathering about the benefits of using vermicompost, panachakavya, herbal insect repellents and she demonstrated it.

Then the session was ended with vote of thanks by Mrs. Rajeshwari, Block Manager of TNSRLM (Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission), Alathur Block, Permabalur District. She gave feedback on the session and she told it was helpful.

We are not going to stop with 20 Women, Now it's 40 and more to go with all your helps.
