2019 was an epic year at IkamvaYouth and we matured to the ripe old age of 16! Please open this link, where you will find our 2019 Annual Report in which you will hear more from our new Board Chair, Putu Madisha, and from, IkamvaYouth’s CEO. You will see that we have maintained our great results and stretched out further to new beneficiaries and communities via our Community Collaboration Programme.

IkamvaYouth bid farewell to its Chairperson of the board, who supported the organisation for more than the 12-year period board members serve. This was to ensure the smooth transition in the board and executive roles. The incoming chairperson put emphasis on the important decisions made in 2019 and IkamvaYouth’s achievements. We hear from the new CEO about his transition to the role and highlighted the programme’s focus areas and impact.

The  2019 Matric results were impressive, with an 86% pass rate and 47% of that achieving a Bachelor pass for IkamvaYouth’s Matric cohort. The Matriculants from our partners in the Community Collaboration Programme (CCP) achieved 89% pass rate, in that 48% attained Bachelor passes. Thus enabling these young people from under-resourced communities to access post-school opportunities such as tertiary education and/or employment. Every three years, we conduct a survey to track the long-term impact of Ikamva Youth, to find out how many alumni have managed to access tertiary education and jobs. The matric learners’ university eligibility and placement on various post-school opportunities are one of our key indicators in measuring the success of the programmes organisations offer.

We would like to thank everyone that has played a role in IkamvaYouth’s success.
