Empower Douala's Women and Youth! Action Lab For Development & Tobby Vision Computers' proposed project will launch a design thinking project to equip women and disadvantaged youth with problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration skills for entrepreneurship or employment. This locally-tailored initiative fosters inclusivity and economic stability through community engagement and private sector partnerships. Sustainable and scalable, it seeks to empower future generations across Cameroon.
Education and societal norms limit opportunities for Douala women. Stereotypes push girls towards care work and marriage, hindering their educational choices. Even with qualifications, they face lower pay, less job security, and limited career options due to family expectations. Additionally, self-employment challenges are amplified for women. While change is happening, women still struggle for equal rights despite legal equality existing on paper.
