Summary

This project will establish children's homes in 40 communities in China with a large concentration of migrant and county left-behind children. It will carry out social-emotional learning for 10000 children, who are lonely, autistic, have experienced sexual assault or bullying, or suffer from various depressive emotions, and will also offer case-based assistance and support.

Challenge

Migrant and left-behind children face severe mental health issues. They lack proper study/play spaces and often stay in unsafe areas after school. With 24.6% of Chinese adolescents suffering depression, these children are particularly vulnerable due to poor social-emotional skills and difficulties adapting, worsening their mental health risks.

Solution

This project boosts migrant children's mental health via social-emotional learning (SEL) through three approaches--Emotional Counseling: Professional social workers provide daily support, monitoring emotional states and guiding children daily. SEL Courses & Activities: courses (self-awareness, interpersonal skills) and activities (community service, role-play) build core abilities. Individual Case Support: Year-long one-on-one intervention for children facing hardship (bullying, anxiety, etc.).

Long-Term Impact

- 90% of children will proactively address academic/life setbacks (enhanced resilience). - 80% will build positive peer bonds and engage in community activities (better social integration). - 70% will master emotional management and conflict resolution, boosting academics. - 60% of families will improve communication, easing children's anxiety.

Additional Documentation

This project has provided additional documentation in a DOCX file (projdoc.docx).
