Children with disabilities face discrimination, have unfulfilled education opportunities, are often vulnerable to serious illnesses, and at high risk of poverty and social exclusion. ECoS reaches communities to identify affected children; empowers caregivers with skills to provide appropriate care; conducts community sensitization to change negative attitudes; provides education, health support, skills & capital for economic empowerment; and reaches leadership to provide appropriate facilities.
Children with disabilities are not able to access school, are locked up in homes, often have health challenges and have limited life opportunities because of being different.
Project will reach out to the community to identify other affected children; will empower caregivers with skills to provide appropriate care; will sensitize the community to change negative attitudes; will provide scholastic materials to support education; address health needs for the for affected children; provides business skills and start-up capital for economic empowerment; and reach the leadership to provide appropriate facilities for these children.
The project will educate 100 children; provide 100 households with skills and capital for economic empowerment; change negative attitudes of community towards people who are different.
